In response to the recent increase in U.S. tariffs on Canadian aluminum—from 25% at the beginning of the year to 50% as of June 4, 2025—Innovitech is proud to support AluQuébec as a strategic advisory partner in its new Al-liance Tariffs Initiative.

This initiative addresses a critical situation: Quebec’s aluminum industry is being hit hard by these tariff measures, threatening the competitiveness of processing companies, investment, employment, and the sustainability of key value chains vital to the sector’s economy.

Innovitech is committed to working alongside AluQuébec to build a collective and structured response to this crisis. Our collaboration aims to measure the real-time impacts of the tariffs, mobilize all stakeholders in the aluminum sector, and co-develop concrete solutions tailored to regional and sector-specific realities.

In particular, we are supporting the implementation of:

  • Rigorous data collection from the companies most affected
  • Working groups and thematic workshops bringing together experts, partners, and industry representatives
  • Strategic regional meetings, beginning with an on-site workshop in Chicoutimi, where we were present to listen to and support local stakeholders.

As a strategic and cross-cutting material, aluminum lies at the heart of key industries such as aerospace, transportation, and construction. Ensuring its sustainability and competitiveness in Quebec is vital to supporting innovation, energy transition, and regional economic development.

More than ever, this collective mobilization represents an opportunity to turn the crisis into a lever to strengthen our industrial ecosystem. Innovitech is proud to play an active role alongside AluQuébec and to contribute to building a more resilient future for Quebec’s aluminum value chain.
