Exploration of the Potential for Industrial Symbiosis Involving Aluminum Stakeholders in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean

As part of a previous mandate with the Société de la Vallée de l’aluminium (SVA), Innovitech explored the potential for establishing an industrial symbiosis for the aluminum sector in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region. This approach, which involves collaboration and cooperation between companies within the same or different sectors, aims to maximize resource efficiency and reduce costs.

To analyze this potential, Innovitech undertook the following actions:
- Diagnosis of each partner’s potential capabilities: Assessed the readiness and capabilities of each partner.
- Literature review and study of inspiring models: Examined existing models of industrial symbiosis.
- Benchmarking of five key local sctors: Identified and evaluated essential local players.
- Assessment and meetings with 15 potential project partners: Engaged with potential stakeholders.
