In a context marked by unprecedented excitement around therapeutic RNA, CQDM entrusted Innovitech with the mandate to establish an overview of academic and industrial developments in therapeutic RNA in Quebec.

This mandate comes at a pivotal moment when Quebec is distinguishing itself through the strength of its research ecosystem, combining the expertise of centers of excellence and strategic initiatives such as AReNA and D2R. This ecosystem is built on a culture of collaborative innovation, supported by organizations like CQDM and major government investments, notably from the MEIE into AReNA, which are driving the growth and structuring of the RNA-based therapies sector in Quebec.

Commissioned by CQDM, Innovitech leveraged its expertise and network of experts and partners to support a strategic initiative aimed at strengthening Quebec’s positioning as a center of excellence in therapeutic RNA.

By mobilizing key players in research, industry, and innovation, Innovitech assisted CQDM in deepening its understanding of Quebec’s RNA-based therapies ecosystem, specifically analyzing a variety of indicators representative of both the academic and industrial sectors.

This initiative not only supports CQDM in measuring AReNA’s impact on the ecosystem but also helps guide its future directions and promotes its expertise and know-how on the international stage, benefiting the entire life sciences sector.

Key Achievements

Phase 1: Ecosystem Mobilization and Data Collection

Innovitech mobilized the entire Quebec RNA therapy ecosystem to encourage information sharing and foster the active participation of key stakeholders. Thanks to its strategic partnerships and targeted consultations with public, private, and academic sectors, the team was able to gather relevant data and build a representative picture of the sector in Quebec.

Phase 2: Retrospective Analysis

Our team conducted a thorough analysis of data from the web and from key ecosystem players to produce an initial assessment of the academic and industrial therapeutic RNA sectors in Quebec. This step ensured rigor and consistency by consolidating data sources and analytical approaches.

Phase 3: In-Depth and Consolidated Analysis

The ecosystem overview was updated to reflect its evolution. A sustainable methodological framework was also defined to support the continuous updating of data in the coming years.

Based on Innovitech’s work, the AReNA team presents a representative overview of Quebec’s therapeutic RNA sector, from academia to industry. It highlights the sector’s key characteristics, covering the entire value chain, from university training to capabilities, services, and expertise available within research and industry stakeholders.
