Deployment of the DAIR Green Fund Initiative
The Mandate:
As part of the Government of Canada’s Aerospace Regional Recovery Initiative (ARRI), DAIR was granted the opportunity to deploy an initiative aimed at financing sustainable projects in the aerospace sector — the DAIR Green Fund (GF). The fund’s objective is to support collaborative R&D projects with a substantial impact on sustainability and green aviation. Projects must be led by southern Ontario-based SMEs, and a total of 16 projects were funded.
Innovitech was engaged to support the development and deployment of this fund, working closely with DAIR’s internal team to ensure process efficiencies throughout the initiative. Through close collaboration and a strategic-support approach, the internal team was able to accelerate short-term project implementation while also strengthening the organization’s capacity to ensure the long-term sustainability of the initiative.

Achievements:
Innovitech’s support was structured around four key phases:
Call for proposals launch:
- Definition of internal roles within the fund team
- Establishment of timelines and processes
- Preparation of a project guidelines and application forms
- Identification of companies likely to be interested in the fund
- Outreach to potential companies
Project evaluation and selection:
- Development of project selection criteria
- Design of scoring systems for the review committee
- Involvement of the necessary experts for the review process
- Support with best practices for contract negotiations
Ongoing project monitoring:
- Drafting of project progress templates
- Guidance for the definition of key performance indicators (KPIs) beyond those required by the funding agency
- Guided approach to project funding
Outcome definition and documentation:
- Support on capturing the most ideal project outcomes for the fund
- Finalization of the project’s final report
- Assistance with recommendations for continuous improvement
Results :
This collaboration enabled DAIR to renew its agreement and launch the next iteration of the DAIR Green Fund, with increased support from the Government of Canada through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario
(FedDev Ontario). Innovitech continues to provide full support services to assist in the evolution of the DAIR Green Fund.
