Strategic Entrepreneur in Residence

Martha held the position of Vice-President (Research and Innovation) at McGill University and Dalhousie University, as well as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). She also led the U15 group’s Research Committee and was a member of various prestigious committees, including the AAU’s Senior Research Officers committee.

With over 40 years of experience, Martha Crago has served on numerous university committees and boards, while conducting research on language acquisition, education, and the health of Indigenous communities. In 2016, she was selected for the Federal Science Review Committee. She has been honored with several distinctions, including the Palmes Académiques and the Order of Canada in 2017. In 2020, she received an honorary doctorate from the University of British Columbia, followed by the Knight’s Cross of the Order of Merit of Germany in 2022.
